JOB SUMMARY
The Food Safety Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating key administrative and compliance functions that support Markon's Food Safety Program. This position oversees the collection, review, organization, and maintenance of supplier food safety documentation, certifications, audit reports, and compliance records to ensure company requirements are met and maintained.
Working collaboratively with suppliers, members, MUAs, and internal stakeholders, the Food Safety Program Coordinator manages compliance tracking activities, facilitates supplier corrective action processes, monitors document status and renewal requirements, and supports supplier approval and verification programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to the Food Safety & Compliance Manager.
- Administer the supplier corrective action program, including issuance, tracking, verification, closure, and trending of corrective actions.
- Works with QA field inspectors on onboarding new suppliers/growers and documenting and following up on Corrective Actions.
- Manage and maintain supplier food safety documentation, certifications, audit reports, compliance records, and required program documentation.
- Coordinate annual reviews and offboarding activities.
- Monitor supplier compliance requirements and proactively follow up on expired or missing documentation.
- Communicate directly with suppliers regarding corrective actions, compliance deficiencies, and required documentation updates.
- Maintain supplier compliance databases and reporting systems to ensure accurate and current records.
- Support supplier risk assessments and compliance evaluations as directed.
- Coordinate traceback exercises.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, agriculture, or a related field.
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures

WORK LOCATION
In-office (Salinas, California), with occasional travel to supplier facilities and industry meetings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily office‑based with occasional production environment exposure.
COMPENSATION
The compensation range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
