Marketing & Business Development Intern

Start Your Marketing Career in the A/E/C Industry

Capital Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Marketing & Business Development Intern to join our Sacramento office. This hands-on internship is an excellent opportunity for a college student who wants to build practical marketing and business development experience while learning about the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry.

As part of our Marketing and Business Development team, you will receive mentorship, contribute to active projects, and gain exposure to industry practices, educational opportunities, and professional networking. You will also have opportunities to take ownership of assigned tasks and develop valuable skills that can support your future career. The position may offer the possibility of continued employment during the academic school year.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will support a variety of marketing, communications, proposal, event, and business development activities, including:

  • Assist with preparing, printing, binding, shipping, and assembling proposals and pursuit documents.
  • Maintain and update marketing materials, including project descriptions, photographs, and boilerplate information.
  • Update project information in the Vantagepoint project database.
  • Organize digital photography and other marketing assets.
  • Assist with social media content, website updates, and the internal newsletter.
  • Support documents and materials for team meetings and project interviews.
  • Assist with events that Capital Engineering participates in or leads, including behind-the-scenes preparation and in-person support.
  • Research potential project opportunities and leads.
  • Support efforts to streamline or automate lead services.
  • Learn and use industry programs, software, and various AI tools.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Marketing Department.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current enrollment at an accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or another related field.
  • Previous work experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment, including copiers and printers, is desirable. 

Physical Requirements

This position involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The intern will regularly sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, move around the office, and open doors. The position also requires the ability to lift up to 15 pounds when needed.
