Electrical Instrumentation Engineering intern

 

Electrical Instrumentation/System Technical Staff/Engineer INTERNSHIP: Immediate Opening

 

Blue Wave Semiconductors, Inc. is a high-technology company that develops thin-film deposition equipment and conducts cutting-edge research in semiconductor materials. It is located at the UMBC Technology Center-South Campus (near UMBC and BWI Airport) in Halethorpe, MD. 

 

Blue Wave Semi is seeking part-time entry-level positions for the production of coating equipment and its electrical and mechanical system components. Complete training will be provided. However, candidates must have basic skills to build small prototypes in electrical, electronic, programming, and mechanical instruments. 

 

The description of the job is summarized below:

 

  1. Entry Level Instrumentation Technical Staff/Engineer

 

Entry-level candidate pursuing career development in any of the following areas:

 

  1. Advanced instrumentation in high vacuum technology, electronics, advanced materials, semiconductors, mechanical materials, and nanotechnology 
  2. Development of equipment and hardware
  3. Planning to complete or graduate with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
  4. Advanced instrumentation and automation, computer communication with instruments

 

Job Functions:

 

  1. Assist current staff members in mechanical assembly and electrical assembly of products.
  2. Assist staff in performing equipment tests and installations at customer sites; create manuals and operating procedures.
  3. Must have skills in planning and updating work to supervisors.
  4. Log/write/documentation of production steps. 
  5. Maintain and upgrade lab equipment, electrical wiring (low voltage and high voltage), design and production of electrical or mechanical systems, computer skills, soldering electrical components, and prototyping/manufacturing using machine shop and power tools. 
  6. Develop and monitor inventory of parts and manage production. 
  7. Organize and maintain production rooms.

 

Requirements:

 

  1. Pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent at UMBC. 
  2. Candidate must be US citizen or permanent resident/green card holder.
  3. May participate in product installation within US or outside US (available for travel for installation)

Experience: Candidate must demonstrate some hands-on skills in electrical, electronic/ or hardware development; fixing instruments; developing electrical circuits or appliances; a hobby in automation/robotics; and an attitude toward becoming a professional, technically driven engineer. 

 

Note: Training will be provided. Position starts immediately
