R&D Technical Staff/Engineer: Immediate Opening at Blue Wave Semiconductors, UMBC South Campus
Blue Wave Semiconductors, Inc. is a supplier of advanced thin film and nanomaterial deposition systems and tools. It is located at the UMBC Technology Center (near UMBC's campus and BWI Airport) in Halethorpe. Our company manufactures advanced thin-film deposition equipment, including vacuum technology (vacuum chambers, pumps, valves, temperature controllers, pressure controllers, gas flow meters, lasers, electron beam, plasma, etc.). These tools are used to coat objects with metals, diamonds (including graphene and carbon nanotubes), carbides, oxides, and nitrides.
Blue Wave is seeking a part-time candidate who would work under and assist the current manufacturing team engaged in research and development of electronic thin film and coating materials.

- Entry Level/Internship Electronics and Photonic Thin Film Materials
Entry-level candidate pursuing career development in any of the following areas:
- Advanced thin film microelectronics, optical, semiconductor, and mechanical coating materials, nanotechnology
- Development of thin-film devices and electromechanical and optical coatings and their processes
- Planning to complete a BS or MS in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
Requirements:
- Assist staff in performing thin-film deposition test samples and lab experiments,
- Must have skills in planning and reporting.
- Must have a strong interest in developing hands-on or technical skills, maintaining lab equipment, mechanical and technical skills in experimentation, with computer skills and basic knowledge of data presentation and reporting.
- Log/write/documentation of scientific experiments; write research reports, articles, abstracts, and patent applications,
- Maintain R&D lab and production rooms.
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident/green card holder.
