Overview:
This internship is for a project which is about our founder of ULimo, John Snee, and his potential mayoral candidacy for the city of New York.
The Political Communications Internship [Project: John Snee NYC Mayoral Candidacy] provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience related to political communication, campaigns, media, public relations, public messaging, and civic engagement. Interns will support research and project activities while gaining exposure to how political information and campaign messages are developed and communicated to the public.
This internship is designed for students interested in political science, political communications, campaigns, media, public relations, and government. Interns will have opportunities to apply concepts from their coursework to a real-world political project while developing research, writing, communication, and analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
Research political communication, campaign messaging, media coverage, and public opinion.
Monitor and summarize news and media coverage related to New York City political and community issues.
Research issues and topics that may be relevant to campaign communications and public messaging.
Assist with drafting and organizing informational materials, research summaries, and communication-related documents.
Research how political campaigns, elected officials, and government organizations communicate with the public.
Review publicly available political messaging, media materials, government communications, and campaign information.
Help organize information related to community concerns, political issues, and public communication.
Support research related to civic engagement, voter communication, and public outreach.
Assist with communication-related project activities as assigned.
Collaborate with project leadership and other interns on political communication and campaign-related initiatives.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework or a degree in Political Science or a closely related field.
Interest in political communications, campaigns, media, public relations, government, and public affairs.
Strong research, writing, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and summarize findings clearly.
Familiarity with political campaigns, media, communications, or public relations is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media platforms, or similar tools is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research and communication assignments.
Interest in New York City politics, media, and community issues is a plus.
