Overview:
This internship is for a project which is about our founder of ULimo, John Snee, and his potential mayoral candidacy for the city of New York.
The Political Science Internship [Project: John Snee NYC Mayoral Candidacy] provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience related to local government, elections, public policy, political research, and civic engagement. Interns will support research and project activities while gaining exposure to the political and governmental issues involved in a mayoral campaign.
This internship is designed for students interested in political science, government, elections, public service, and the political process. Interns will have opportunities to apply concepts from their coursework to a real-world political project while developing research, communication, and analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
Research political, governmental, and public policy issues relevant to New York City.
Assist with research related to local elections, government institutions, and the political process.
Monitor and summarize current political developments and issues affecting New York City residents.
Research voter concerns, community issues, and topics relevant to the mayoral candidacy project.
Assist with preparing research summaries, briefing materials, reports, and other project documents.
Review publicly available government reports, policy documents, election information, and political research.
Help organize information related to campaign issues, public policy priorities, and community concerns.
Support research into New York City government structure, agencies, elected offices, and political institutions.
Assist with project activities related to civic engagement and political communication.
Collaborate with project leadership and other interns on political science and government-related initiatives.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework or a degree in Political Science or a closely related field.
Interest in government, elections, public policy, civic engagement, and political research.
Strong research, analytical, written communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and summarize findings clearly.
Familiarity with political institutions, government processes, or election systems is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, research databases, or similar tools is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research and project assignments.
Interest in New York City government and local political issues is a plus.
