Student Marketing Assistant - Web Development
Job Title: Student Marketing Assistant – Web Development – Part Time
General: The position of Student Marketing Assistant – Web Development is primarily responsible for assisting the College of Business (CoB) in maintaining, updating, and enhancing the college’s website and other digital platforms. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Digital Content. You must be a student at The University of Akron. Web development, information systems, computer science, marketing, or related majors preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with creating, updating, and maintaining College of Business website content and webpages.
• Build and edit webpages to support recruitment, academic programming, events, faculty and student initiatives, and other college priorities.
• Ensure website content is accurate, current, accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with College of Business and University branding.
• Assist with improving website navigation, organization, functionality, and overall user experience.
• Work with the College of Business Marketing team, faculty, staff, and other university partners to gather information and complete website projects.
• Assist with basic website analytics and identify opportunities to improve website performance and engagement.
• Support digital projects, including landing pages, online forms, email campaigns, and other web-based initiatives as needed.
Skill Requirements:
• Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, content management systems, and/or web development principles.
• Experience with or willingness to learn website content management systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct errors in web content.
• Understanding of responsive design, accessibility, SEO, and user experience is preferred.
• Strategic thinking ability, desire to work in a collaborative environment, and willingness to learn new skills.
• “People person” who is confident and has a positive personality.
• Strong organizational and time management skills are critical – must adhere to deadlines, multi-task, and be able to prioritize.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to learn quickly and manage workload in a cooperative and demanding environment.
The CoB is looking for someone that can work 10-15 hours per week, depending on the project demands.
The pay is $14/hr.
