Description: 
The Social Media Intern will support our marketing team by creating, curating, and managing content across multiple social media platforms. This role requires a creative, detail-oriented individual who is passionate about social media, digital communication, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a keen sense of branding, and the ability to adapt content for various audiences and platforms. 

Qualifications: 

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok) 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to produce engaging and concise content 
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics) 
  • Ability to create visual content (using tools like Canva or Adobe Spark) 
  • Organized and proactive in managing deadlines and content calendars 
  • Experience or coursework in marketing, communications, public relations, or digital media 
  • Understanding of the university's branding guidelines and ability to ensure consistency in messaging 
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision 
  • Work Study eligibility required 
  • Preferred minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 
  • Preferred class standing: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior 

Development Opportunities: 

  • Cross-train in other focus areas such as career advising and employer relations 
  • Learn about content management systems (Sitecore) and digital marketing strategies 
  • Attend Career Services events to gather content for posts 
  • Participate in workshops and events related to career development 
  • Opportunity to build a professional portfolio with content produced during the internship 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in managing the Career Services social media accounts 
  • Develop and execute social media content calendars 
  • Create engaging social media content (e.g., posts, stories, videos, graphics) for multiple platforms 
  • Analyze and report on social media performance using analytics tools 
  • Work closely with the marketing team to promote career fairs, workshops, and other events 
  • Attend events (e.g., career fairs, etiquette dinners) to capture live content and post in real time 
  • Collaborate with the Communications Strategist to identify and share student and alumni success stories 
  • Ensure all social media content aligns with the university's messaging and branding standards 
  • Engage with followers and respond to questions or comments on social media channels 
  • Participate in intern meetings and professional development programming 
  • Potentially serve on hiring committee or student advisory group
