Student Marketing Assistant - Content Development
Job Title: Student Marketing Assistant – Content Development – Part Time
General: The position of Student Marketing Assistant – Content Development is primarily responsible for assisting the College of Business (CoB) in developing, editing, organizing, and managing content used to promote the college, its academic programming, students, faculty, alumni, events, and other initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Digital Content. You must be a student at The University of Akron. Marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, English, or related majors preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities:
• Write and edit content for the College of Business website, social media, email communications, digital signage, newsletters, and other marketing channels.
• Assist with developing student, faculty, alumni, program, event, and partnership stories for use across College of Business communications.
• Conduct interviews with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and business partners to identify and develop compelling stories.
• Research topics, gather information, fact-check content, and ensure accuracy before publication.
• Repurpose existing content for different audiences and platforms while maintaining a consistent College of Business voice and brand.
Skill Requirements:
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
• Ability to write for different audiences and adapt messaging for web, social media, email, and other platforms.
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and current digital content trends.
• Ability to conduct interviews and translate conversations and information into engaging stories.
• Strong attention to detail, grammar, spelling, and accuracy.
• Strategic thinking ability, desire to work in a collaborative environment, and willingness to learn new skills.
• “People person” who is confident, professional, and has a positive personality.
• Strong organizational and time management skills are critical – must adhere to deadlines, multi-task, and be able to prioritize.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to learn quickly and manage workload in a cooperative and demanding environment.
The CoB is looking for someone that can work 5-8 hours per week, depending on the project demands.
The pay is $14/hr.
