Position Title: Software Engineering Intern / Contractor
Engagement Details
- Type: Part-Time Intern or Contractor
- Hours: 10-20 hours/week
- Compensation: Paid position. Hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications. ($20-$30/hour)
- Duration: 3-6 months (with extension potential)
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Primarily remote with periodic in-person meetings at the TerraMark office in Marietta, GA)

Position Summary
TerraMark is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineering Intern or Contractor to support the design and development of Foresight, a next-generation operational intelligence platform focused on resource planning, forecasting, scheduling, optimization, and decision support.
Working directly with the Project Foresight Lead, this individual will be responsible for translating business requirements, process logic, and operational workflows into scalable Python-based software components. The role is highly technical and ideal for someone interested in software engineering, data systems, optimization, analytics, and AI-enabled business applications. Unlike most internships, this role offers the opportunity to work directly with executive leadership and help develop a strategic operational intelligence platform from the ground up.

Primary Responsibilities
Software Engineering
- Assist in developing Python-based application components and utilities.
- Support implementation of business rules and operational workflows.
- Contribute to scheduling, forecasting, and planning feature development under guidance from project leadership.
- Assist with API integrations and backend development tasks.
- Create and maintain reusable code modules and data structures.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities.
- Support enhancement of existing prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions.
Data Engineering & Analytics
- Develop and maintain operational datasets used by the application.
- Build ETL/data transformation processes.
- Create reporting datasets and analytical outputs.
- Assist in performance metric and KPI calculations.
Product Development
- Work with the Project Lead to understand business requirements and operational processes.
- Participate in translating business needs into technical solutions and prototypes.
- Support development and testing of MVP features.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations for improving usability, functionality, and performance.
- Participate in product discussions, sprint planning, and solution reviews.
- Help document technical designs, assumptions, and implementation approaches.
Quality Assurance
- Develop unit tests and validation procedures.
- Support user acceptance testing.
- Troubleshoot defects and performance issues.
- Validate implementation of business rules and scheduling logic.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing or completed degree in:
- Computer Science

- Equivalent demonstrated software development experience through work, personal projects, bootcamps, or open-source contributions.
