Laboratory Technician
Scope Description:
This candidate will provide laboratory services for testing and reproductive health programming offered at the J. Glen Smith and Blanket Mills Health Centers.
Deliverables for contracted Lab Technician:
- This contracted Lab Technician will work 40 hours a week plus Saturday clinic as scheduled monthly. The Technician will perform the following tasks as outlined in the Department’s job description:
- Performs phlebotomy on patients
- Conducts CLIA waived and point of care (POC) testing including but not limited to:
- Wet preps/KOH preparations
- HIV testing
- POC testing for Syphilis and HIV
- Urine pregnancy testing
- Performs quality control quality assurance protocols according to laboratory standards
- Documents test results in center record keeping systems, Ahler’s and E-clinical Works in an accurate and timely manner
- Monitors and records temperatures of refrigerator where lab supplies are stored
- Assist with inventory control and records management
- Obtains test samples in an efficient and timely manner
- Collects and package specimens to send out to contracted lab
- Produces accurate laboratory test results
Hours: 40- hour work week and one monthly Saturday 4-hour clinic.
Normal business hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Thursday: 11:30 am to 8 pm First Saturday of every month: 8:00am to12pm (4 hours)
Work location
Primary work location will be at the Blanket Mills Health Center Laboratory (3466 St. Rocco Court). Staff may be scheduled to cover the J Glen Smith Health Center laboratory located at 11100 St. Clair Avenue).and cover community events (Mobile Clinic).
