Summary
You will serve as a RANGE TECHNICIAN. The primary purpose of the position is to perform technical rangeland management work in support of natural resource management programs in rangeland environments.

Pay will vary based on grade level and/or duty location for which you're selected. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
Duties
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
- Independently determine compliance with the terms and conditions of grazing permits and associated Allotment Management Plans (AMPs) and/or watershed plans.
- Independently conducts related monitoring studies and advises Rangeland Management Specialist regarding the need for range and watershed improvements.
- Conduct maintenance and repair activities on range improvement projects (such a fences, water wells, etc.).
- Initiate and conduct National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) evaluations on related projects.
- Develop Range Improvement Project System (RIPS) for proposed projects, office project summary lists, and office materials order lists which includes independently initiating and conducting NEPA evaluations on projects.
- Utilize various types of computer programs and software applications related to the range program to enter and process grazing applications, bills, and permits in the automated system.
- Serve as a crew leader for various range projects.
- Organize, schedule, and execute work crew assignments; document work progress; and ensure each project is properly completed and recorded
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
