🤟 Bring ASL to Life

We’re looking for an enthusiastic American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor to introduce young learners to ASL through fun, interactive, and age-appropriate activities.

You’ll help students build foundational signing skills—including vocabulary, fingerspelling, everyday expressions, and basic conversation—while creating a classroom where students feel comfortable practicing, making mistakes, and building confidence.

You don't need to be a professional ASL instructor or completely fluent. If you have a solid foundation in ASL, can demonstrate beginner-level signs clearly, and enjoy working with young learners, you may be a great fit.

Curriculum guidance and instructional materials are provided, giving you the support you need to deliver engaging lessons while bringing your own personality and creativity to the classroom.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Lead engaging, beginner-friendly ASL sessions
• Teach foundational signs, vocabulary, fingerspelling, and basic conversational skills
• Use games, activities, conversations, and hands-on practice to make learning memorable
• Introduce practical ASL students can use in everyday situations
• Introduce age-appropriate concepts related to Deaf culture and accessibility
• Demonstrate signs clearly and provide encouraging feedback
• Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
• Adapt activities to different ages, abilities, and learning styles
• Encourage students to participate and practice without fear of mistakes
• Monitor student participation and celebrate progress
• Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment
• Communicate professionally with program coordinators and school staff
• Arrive prepared, dependable, and ready to engage students

🌟 What We're Looking For

You don't need to be fully fluent in ASL to apply. We’re looking for someone with enough ASL knowledge and confidence to teach beginner-level concepts and create an engaging learning experience.

You may be a great fit if you have:

• A solid foundation in American Sign Language
• Confidence with basic signs, vocabulary, and phrases
• The ability to demonstrate and explain beginner-level ASL clearly
• A genuine interest in ASL, communication, accessibility, or Deaf culture
• Patience, enthusiasm, and an encouraging personality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfort leading groups of young learners
• The ability to follow provided curriculum and prepare lessons
• Reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude
• Respect for Deaf culture and inclusive communication practices

Teaching experience is a plus, but not required. Experience in ASL instruction, interpreting, education, tutoring, mentoring, camps, or youth programs is helpful.

Fluent ASL users, ASL learners with a strong foundation, ASL and Deaf Studies students, interpreters, educators, college students, recent graduates, and passionate ASL users are all encouraged to apply.
