Technical Lead (Climate/Digital Infrastructure Platforms)
Title: Technical Lead (Climate Resilience & Environmental Justice Platforms)
Overview
We are a mission‑driven climate resilience and environmental justice venture based in the Washington DC/Virginia region. Our products are data‑driven flood, heat, and disaster risk dashboards for cities, data centers, and vulnerable communities, backed by SBIR and academic partnerships. We are seeking a Technical Lead to own the product roadmap and technical execution, translating pilot and partner requirements into robust features and external‑facing dashboards.
Primary responsibilities
- Own the product and technical roadmap, aligning climate/data science, user needs, and SBIR milestones into a clear build plan.
- Lead technical execution: define architecture, choose stack and tools, and ensure reliable delivery of MVPs and production dashboards.
- Manage and mentor developers, data science fellows, and data architecture interns; set standards for code quality, review, testing, and documentation.
- Translate pilot and partner requirements (e.g., city, data center, and community use cases) into concrete features and user stories, then oversee delivery against those milestones.
- Own delivery against SBIR and external‑facing dashboard commitments: ensure that each release meets performance, reliability, and usability expectations for public‑sector and enterprise users.
- Make build‑vs‑buy and vendor decisions, evaluate integrations, and manage technical risk across data, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate with the founder on fundraising, partner conversations, and technical due diligence; represent the technical vision in investor and enterprise meetings.
Profile
- Experience as a senior engineer, tech lead, or similar in data‑driven products (ideally climate, geospatial, or public‑sector SaaS).
- Comfortable leading small, interdisciplinary teams and balancing hands‑on building with architecture, planning, and mentoring.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with city partners, data center operators, and community organizations on technical roadmaps.
- U.S.‑based and a U.S. citizen or resident, with interest in mission‑aligned, SBIR‑backed innovation in climate resilience and environmental justice.
