Controls Engineering Intern

To help us drive excellence, you’ll get to:

  • Assist with PLC troubleshooting, program analysis, firmware updates, and controls system improvements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Support electrical and circuit analysis activities to identify issues and improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Gain hands-on experience with industrial network communications, including the setup and validation of PLC networks and connected devices.
  • Participate in error-proofing projects by auditing existing systems, implementing improvements, and supporting quality-focused engineering initiatives.
  • Assist with the installation, startup, debugging, and validation of automation equipment, including PED welding systems and related controls.
  • Work alongside Maintenance and Engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment, improve manufacturing processes, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop an understanding of robotic systems, automation technologies, HMI applications, and robot programming used in modern manufacturing operations.

This internship provides hands-on experience in industrial controls, PLC programming, automation, robotics, troubleshooting, and manufacturing process improvement within a fast-paced automotive environment.

Internship placements are based on both candidate preferences and business needs. Although location preferences will be considered, placement at a specific location cannot be guaranteed and is dependent on functional and location availability (Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi).
