College Admissions Mentor

Job description

At Ivy Brothers, we're on a mission to help ambitious students navigate the complex world of college admissions through personalized mentorship and strategic guidance. We're looking for exceptional mentors who can take full ownership of student success stories.

About the Role

This is a part-time, remote position where you'll work directly with high-achieving students to craft compelling admissions strategies. You'll be a trusted advisor who sees the big picture. That means connecting summer programs, competitions, research opportunities, and extracurriculars into a cohesive narrative that gets students into their dream schools.

What You'll Do

  • At Ivy Brothers, one of the most important things we do is help students to develop a “spike” (this is their area of excellence that has multiple evidence supporting it)
  • Develop comprehensive, personalized admissions strategies for students from start to finish
  • Guide students through the full admissions landscape: application strategy, summer programs, competitions, extracurriculars, and more
  • Take full ownership of your mentees' journeys, you'll be their strategic partner, not just an advisor
  • Help students build deliverables (this might mean helping them with a passion project, giving them all the steps they need to build something in the real world)
  • Help students identify and maximize opportunities that align with their goals and strengthen their profiles
  • Provide expert insights on what top schools are looking for and how to stand out

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • For this role, we are primarily looking for people whose graduation year is 2026 or earlier, meaning they are graduates. Exceptions may exist if they are able to communicate extraordinary value to parents in a particular domain.
  • Deep expertise in college admissions strategy and how all the pieces fit together
  • Thorough knowledge of the admissions ecosystem: summer programs (RSI, TASP, SSP, etc.), competitions, research opportunities, and how they factor into applications
  • Understanding of passion projects
  • Full ownership mindset. You see projects through from beginning to end and take pride in results
  • Ability to be proactive (come up with a concrete plan for our student on how to improve their application and lead them, rather than asking them what they want)
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically about student development
  • Excellent communication and mentorship skills

Bonus Points:

  • Background as an entrepreneur (we love people who know how to ship and iterate!)
  • Experience building or scaling programs
  • Track record of helping students get into top-tier schools

What We Offer

  • $60/hour competitive compensation
  • Fully remote, flexible schedule
  • Meaningful work. Directly impact students' futures
  • Collaborative team environment
  • Start with one student and scale based on your capacity

If you're someone who gets energized by helping students unlock their potential and you have the admissions expertise to back it up, we'd love to hear from you!

Best,

Ivy Brothers Team
