Communication Operations Assistant (FWS awarded Student Worker)

CST FWS awarded Student Worker is a federal work study awarded student who will be assisting in a variety of tasks as needed by UNCG’s Communication Studies department.

Responsibilities (includes but not limited to): 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors in the department office.
  • Provide professional customer service by answering questions in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Assist with creating and distributing departmental communications, announcements, and newsletters.
  • Support department social media content and help promote events, programs, and student opportunities.
  • Support departmental events by assisting with planning, promotion, registration, and day-of operations.
  • Maintain and update bulletin boards and other communication channels.
  • Welcome prospective students and guests, providing information about departmental programs and resources.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on special projects related to student engagement and communication initiatives.
  • Help collect and organize data for departmental reports, surveys, and assessments.
  • Create flyers, presentations, and promotional materials using platforms such as Canva, Microsoft Office, or Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Assist with student outreach efforts and support communication campaigns designed to increase engagement.
  • Develop professional communication, teamwork, and organizational skills through hands-on departmental experience.

Qualifications:

  • Must have federal work study (FWS) allocation in Financial Aid Package
    • To find FWS status, students can check their financial aid package through UNCGenie
  • Must have strong communication skills 
  • Must be a Communication Studies major degree seeking student at UNCG 
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours of courses 
  • Must be in good academic and financial standing with the university
