Documentary Video Editor
L36 Media is a boutique documentary studio in Austin, Texas that creates legacy films - cinematic documentaries that preserve family stories for future generations. We're looking for a part-time video editor to help with post-production on client films.
What you'll do:
- Assemble rough cuts from pre-packaged interview footage using combined AI plus Premiere tech stack
- Refine edits in Adobe Premiere Pro — pacing, B-roll placement, music, and basic color
- Organize and log footage, sync multicam interviews, and manage media in cloud storage
- Work directly with the founder on story structure and editorial decisions
What we're looking for:
- Current student or recent grad in film, mass communication, digital media, or related field
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro (class projects count)
- Interest in documentary storytelling - you care about narrative, not just cuts
- Reliable, self-directed, and comfortable getting feedback
Nice to have (not required):
- Experience with Descript, DaVinci Resolve, or After Effects
- Color grading or audio mixing experience
- Interest in AI-assisted editing workflows — we build our own tools and you'd get exposure to a genuinely modern pipeline
Why this role is different: You'll edit real films that families keep forever, with full creative involvement with a modern tech stack designed to increase efficiency of storytelling. Small studio, direct mentorship, portfolio-quality finished work you can show.
Flexible hours around your class schedule, roughly 8–15 hrs/week.
