Location: Ruby Studio — Fairbanks, Alaska
Position: Part-time, in-person
Pay: $18-25 Hourly; based on experience and teaching responsibilities

Ruby Studio is seeking encouraging, dependable musicians to join our creative education team. We are hiring mentors who specialize in drums, voice, piano, cello or guitar and enjoy helping children and teens develop musical skills, confidence and creativity.

At Ruby Studio, we call our teachers “mentors” because our work is about more than teaching notes and technique. We build meaningful connections, celebrate each student’s individuality and create a welcoming environment where young creatives can learn their value and then shine.

Responsibilities

• Teach engaging private and/or group music lessons.
• Provide flexible instruction, considering each student’s age, ability and learning style.
• Help students develop healthy technique, musicianship and confidence.
• Prepare for lessons and document student progress.
• Communicate professionally with families and the Ruby Studio team.
• Participate in biannual recitals, training and studio events.
• Maintain a safe, organized and encouraging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one of the following: drums, voice, piano, cello or guitar.
• Strong communication skills and a positive, dependable attitude.
• Patience and enthusiasm for working with children and teens.
• Ability to teach beginning students in a clear and encouraging way.
• Willingness to follow Ruby Studio curriculum, policies and teaching practices.
• Mmusic education coursework is required.
• Teaching experience a plus, but not required- we will teach you how to teach your craft!
• Music students, recent graduates, working musicians and experienced educators are encouraged to apply.
• After first interview, employment is contingent upon successful completion of reference and background checks.
• Reference check will cost $35 and is paid by applicant.
• If applicate is hired, we will reimburse the $35.
