Basketball Tots by Pure Ambition
A premier preschool basketball program for ages 3–5.

Basketball Tots introduces children ages 3–5 to basketball through structured, high-energy classes held at preschools and childcare centers.

We are seeking dependable, energetic coaches who enjoy working with young children and take pride in representing a professional youth sports organization.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Basketball Tots coaches lead structured 30-minute classes designed to build coordination, confidence, and listening skills in preschool-aged children.

Coaches are responsible for creating a positive learning environment while leading fun, organized activities that keep young children engaged.

This is a part-time coaching role with opportunities to teach multiple classes per shift.

SCHEDULE

Classes are typically held at preschools during weekday mornings and early afternoons.

Typical class windows include:

Morning
• 9:00 AM
• 10:00 AM
• 11:00 AM

Afternoon
• 3:00 PM
• 3:30 PM

Coaches may teach 2–4 classes per shift depending on school assignments.

Most classes take place Monday through Thursday, with limited Friday opportunities.

COMPENSATION

$30–$35 per class

Each class lasts 30 minutes. The per-class rate includes lesson planning, student reviews, class setup, and equipment breakdown. Travel time and mileage are not separately compensated.

Example shifts:

2 classes → $60–$70
3 classes → $90–$105
4 classes → $120–$140

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead structured 30-minute Basketball Tots classes
• Prepare lesson plans using the Basketball Tots curriculum and adapt activities to each class's needs
• Engage preschool-aged children through fun, movement-based activities
• Maintain a safe and positive class environment
• Monitor student participation, skill development, and progress
• Complete periodic student reviews and provide clear, age-appropriate feedback for families and program leadership
• Maintain accurate class notes and submit reviews by established deadlines
• Set up and break down sports equipment
• Communicate professionally with school staff
• Represent the Basketball Tots program with professionalism and reliability

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience working with children in a structured setting (coaching, camps, childcare, teaching, tutoring, etc.)
• Confidence leading and independently managing energetic groups of 8–10 preschool children in a structured class environment
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to transport a small sports equipment kit
• Dependable and punctual

Candidates must successfully pass a childcare-compliant background check prior to working with children.

TRAINING & CERTIFICATION

All coaches must complete Basketball Tots Coach Training before leading classes independently.

Training includes:

• Basketball Tots curriculum instruction
• Classroom management for preschool groups
• Safety and class structure standards
• Equipment setup and drill flow
• Pure Ambition coaching expectations and professionalism standards

Coaches must successfully complete the Basketball Tots Coaching Certification through Pure Ambition prior to being assigned independent classes.

Training is compensated at $20 per hour.

EQUIPMENT PROVIDED

All Basketball Tots coaches receive a Basketball Tots equipment kit, which includes:

• Mini basketballs
• Cones and training markers
• Portable hoops (when required)
• Age-appropriate training equipment

Equipment kits are provided and maintained by the Basketball Tots operations team.

GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES

Strong coaches may have opportunities to grow into leadership roles including:

• Route Leader – managing multiple class locations
• Lead Coach – mentoring and supporting newer coaches
• Site Coordinator – overseeing operations at partner school sites
