Graphic Design and Video Assistant

The Wilson College of Business at the University of Northern Iowa is seeking a creative and motivated student to join our marketing and communications team as a Graphic Design & Video Assistant.

This role is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience creating visual content for a professional brand across digital, social, print and video. You'll work closely with the college's Marketing and Communications Manager to develop creative that tells the Wilson College story, promotes our programs and events, and engages prospective and current students.

From designing social media content and marketing materials to capturing and editing short-form video, you'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of creative projects while building a strong professional portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Update and design flyers and brochures that effectively communicate the college's programs and events.
• Create visually appealing social media graphics and videos to engage our online audience and promote college initiatives.
• Design web images that enhance the user experience and support our digital presence.
• Collaborate closely with the Wilson College of Business's Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure consistency with brand guidelines.
• Review and incorporate feedback to refine design concepts and materials.
• Manage project timelines to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality designs.
• Stay updated with current design trends and incorporate them into your work.
• Help maintain digital content, including websites, articles, and digital displays.  

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Strong creativity and an eye for detail to produce visually appealing materials.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work within a team.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
• Passion for graphic design and a desire to expand your skills in a professional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video editing software.. 
• Understanding of visual composition and lighting techniques for both photography and video production.
• Experience creating short-form vertical video for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts.
