Technical Writing Intern - SXUICWS26/27

POSITION SUMMARY

We are inviting a driven and detail-oriented Technical Writing Intern to learn from our quality team at our frozen-food manufacturing facility. This role will involve observing manufacturing processes, documenting operational procedures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support clear and accurate written communication across the plant.

By the end of the internship, the candidate will have developed and utilized their writing skills to author a wide variety of documents that support multiple departments, gained experience in the food manufacturing industry, and learned teamwork and leadership skills that can be applied across nearly any field.

This is a hands-on internship ideal for a student interested in technical communication, food manufacturing processes, and industrial documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain clear, concise, and accurate documentation including:
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Work Instructions
  • Safety Protocols
  • Sanitation Procedures
  • Preventive Maintenance Guides
  • Training Manuals
  • Quality Assurance Policies
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) in production, quality, safety, and engineering to gather technical information.
• Ensure documentation complies with food industry regulations such as FDA, USDA, FSMA, and HACCP.
• Translate complex technical processes into easy-to-understand language suitable for various employee levels.
• Organize and manage document control systems, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and properly versioned.
• Assist with the development of visual aids (diagrams, photos, flowcharts) to supplement written materials.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety standards, and plant safety policies.
