Graduate Assistant – Equal Opportunity & Title IX

Department: Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX (OEO) 

Reports To: Title IX Coordinator

Position Summary

The Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX (OEO) Graduate Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX and collaborates with Institutional Compliance staff.  Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator, this position provides administrative support, leads communication initiatives, maintains the website, tracks data, and supports outreach efforts related to Title IX, Sexual Misconduct, and Discrimination prevention.  The selected candidate must maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with office operations and administrative support functions, including answering phones, scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and maintaining records and logs.
  • Participate in campus communication, education, and outreach initiatives related to Sexual Misconduct, Title IX, and Discrimination prevention.
  • Assist with the collection, organization, and analysis of statistical data and reports related to office activities and compliance efforts.
  • Collaborate with office staff to maintain and update departmental websites and online resources to ensure information remains accurate and current.
  • Support marketing and educational efforts through the development of digital and print communication materials.
  • Attend trainings, professional development opportunities, and community meetings as assigned.
  • Provide support to the Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator on projects and special initiatives throughout the academic year.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all office communications, records, and sensitive information.
  • Perform additional clerical and operational duties as assigned within the Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution before the start date.
  • Admission to, or conditional acceptance into, a graduate degree program at Texas State University.
  • Enrollment in at least nine (9) graduate credit hours during each long semester.
  • Minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a professional team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Basic proficiency with computer applications and office technology.
  • Experience with website management or content updates.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to contribute to communication and outreach efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education, student affairs, compliance, or administrative support environments.
  • Experience with website management, social media, or digital communications.
  • Experience creating marketing, educational, or outreach materials.
