About the Internship
Freedom Financial Partners (FFP) is seeking a motivated college student to join our team as a Fall Wealth Management Intern.
This is a paid, part-time internship designed for a student who wants meaningful, hands-on experience inside an independent wealth management firm. The position will provide exposure to several areas of the business, including client and account service, financial planning, technology, business operations, and special projects.
Rather than spending the semester focused on one narrow function, the intern will have the opportunity to work with different members of the FFP team and contribute to real projects and client-service activities.
The internship is primarily remote, with scheduling flexibility around classes and academic commitments. There will also be opportunities to work from our Twin Cities office and participate in selected meetings, training, or firm activities in person.
What You'll Work On
Responsibilities will vary throughout the semester based on firm priorities and may include:
Client & Account Service
Assist with client and account service requests
Help prepare, organize, and track account paperwork and documentation
Maintain client information and activities within our CRM
Track outstanding client items and internal follow-up tasks
Gather and organize client and account information
Support advisors and client service team members with ongoing follow-up
Financial Planning Support
Assist with the creation and updating of financial plans
Gather and organize client financial information
Enter and review financial planning data
Assist with preparation for client meetings
Review previous meeting notes and outstanding planning items
Help prepare planning reports and supporting materials
Assist with post-meeting follow-up and planning projects
Projects, Technology & Business Operations
A significant portion of the internship may involve projects that help FFP improve how we operate and serve clients. Examples may include:
CRM and client data projects
Reporting and data analysis
Workflow and process improvement
Technology implementation and testing
AI and automation initiatives
Internal process documentation
Investment or financial planning research
Client segmentation and service initiatives
Data cleanup and quality-control projects
Other firmwide projects based on current priorities
What You'll Learn
Because FFP is an independent wealth management firm, interns have the opportunity to see how different parts of the business work together.
Depending on projects and workload, you may gain exposure to:
Financial planning
Investment management
Client and account service
Wealth management technology
Business and practice management
Compliance and regulatory processes
Tax, estate, insurance, and retirement planning concepts
Artificial intelligence and automation within financial services
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree
Interested in financial services, wealth management, finance, business, accounting, economics, or a related field
Detail-oriented and organized
Dependable and able to follow projects through to completion
Comfortable working independently in a primarily remote environment
Able to manage multiple assignments and priorities
