Events & Member Engagement Intern

Job Description

The intern, based in D.C., will primarily be responsible for supporting BAB’s fall program of executive roundtables, policy discussions, and member events. Working primarily with the Senior Manager, Member Engagement & Programming, the intern will assist with program research, speaker and audience preparation, invitations and RSVP management, event logistics, briefing materials, post-event reporting, and selected member engagement projects.

The candidate will also have the chance to support member engagement and growth across all industries. This is an ideal role for a self-starter interested in the intersection of international business and policy and in facilitating important in-person forums to address issues of importance to industry and stakeholders across Washington, D.C., and the region.

This position represents BAB in its relationships with external constituencies and supports key administrative functions of the organization. The right candidate for the job will contribute to the long-term success of the organization by offering a forward-thinking, proactive approach to planning, strong attention to detail, and an ability to manage and prioritize multiple strands of program activity at once.

 

Essential Duties and Main Responsibilities:

Programming & Events

  • Logistics Coordination: Support the planning and execution of D.C.-based events, including executive roundtables, panel discussions, and receptions.
  • Content Creation: Assist in drafting event abstracts, managing invite and RSVP databases, invitations, speaker briefings, and run-of-show/agenda content.
  • On-Site Support: Provide "day-of" event execution support, including managing registration desks, developing nametags, and overseeing attendee lists.
  • Post-Event Analysis: Participate in post-event review by collecting feedback and preparing data reports to drive future improvement.

Member Engagement & Research

  • Database Management: Help the D.C. team maintain up-to-date records in our CRM database and MS Excel to ensure efficient tracking of member status and engagement plans.
  • Prospective Outreach: Occasionally support the Senior Manager on member acquisition plans by assisting in research on prospective multinational companies and large corporates with a U.S.-U.K. footprint in the D.C. area.
  • Collateral Support: Assist in drafting marketing materials, member briefing documents, and promotional emails to communicate BAB’s value proposition effectively.
  • Other duties assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in International Relations, Business, Communications, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, OneNote, and Word); familiarity with Constant Contact and CRM tools is highly preferred.
  • Experience working closely with senior executives/stakeholders desirable.
  • A demonstrated prior interest in international trade and the D.C. business environment desirable.
