Reading Specialist

Are you looking for a part-time job that gives you purpose?

 

Well-established remedial reading clinic looking for a part-time tutor to work with students one-on-one. Instructor will work in a North Portland public elementary school but will not be a school district employee. Work 6 hours per day, M-F, 8:00 – 2:30 pm. Part-time summer employment in our Tigard or Vancouver offices may be possible. 

Bachelor’s degree required. Applicants must have experience teaching and/or working with children. Must have exceptional reading, spelling, comprehension, writing, grammar, and communication skills. 

Using Northwest Reading Clinic’s chosen suite of programs, instructors work one-on-one with elementary-aged children while in the Portland public schools, and ages five through adult in private clinics. Instructors in the public-school environment will communicate directly with teachers or school administration regarding students on occasion, and instructors in the private clinic will communicate with students’ parents on occasion. 

Paid training at $16.80/hour for 4 to 6 hours per day at our Vancouver & Tigard offices and a North Portland school for 4-6 weeks. Hours of training vary. Teaching at $21/hour. 

Additionally, our student population requires stability and dedication. Please do not apply if you are seeking short-term or seasonal employment. A two-year commitment from all applicants is desired.
