Growth & Business Development Intern
About TORQ Sports
TORQ Sports is a growing sports technology platform built to help athletes navigate the recruiting process, build their presence, and connect with college programs.
We’re looking for competitive, motivated individuals who want hands-on experience in sports business and the opportunity to directly contribute to the growth of an emerging sports technology company.
About the Role
As a Growth & Business Development Intern, you’ll play a direct role in expanding TORQ across high-school athletic programs, club and travel organizations, training facilities, and the college recruiting ecosystem.
This is not a traditional internship where you’ll spend your time shadowing or completing busy work. You’ll be responsible for identifying potential partners, connecting with coaches and athletic decision-makers, building relationships, and helping organizations successfully introduce TORQ to their athletes.
You’ll gain firsthand experience in sales, business development, partnerships, recruiting technology, and startup growth while helping TORQ build its presence in athletic communities across the country.
What You’ll Do
- Research and identify potential high-school, club, travel, training, and athletic program partners.
- Connect with coaches, athletic directors, and other decision-makers through phone, email, and social outreach.
- Build and develop relationships with prospective TORQ programs.
- Schedule meetings and product demonstrations.
- Assist coaches and organizations throughout the onboarding process.
- Help programs introduce and launch TORQ with their athletes.
- Manage prospects and follow-up activity within TORQ’s CRM.
- Generate referrals and introductions from coaches and existing relationships.
- Test new outreach strategies and messaging.
- Provide feedback on what coaches and athletes are saying in the market.
- Track conversations, meetings, program adoption, and athlete activation.
Who We’re Looking For
- Competitive, motivated, and goal-oriented.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable speaking with new people and starting conversations.
- Organized and consistent with follow-up.
- Self-motivated and able to take ownership of responsibilities.
- Coachable and willing to learn.
- Interested in sports, recruiting, sales, business development, marketing, partnerships, or entrepreneurship.
- Excited about working in a fast-moving environment and helping build something from the ground up.
Previous experience in athletics, sports business, sales, marketing, or business development is a plus, but not required.
Work ethic, communication skills, competitiveness, and willingness to learn are what matter most.
What You’ll Gain
- Real-world sports business experience.
- Hands-on sales and business development experience.
- Experience working directly with coaches and athletic organizations.
- Exposure to sports technology and the college recruiting industry.
- CRM and pipeline management experience.
- Prospecting and relationship-building skills.
- Experience executing a go-to-market growth strategy.
- Direct involvement in the growth of an emerging sports platform.
Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to produce measurable results and see the impact of your work.
How Success Is Measured
Success in this role will be based on your ability to consistently create opportunities and help move relationships forward, including:
- Coach and organization conversations.
- Meetings and demonstrations generated.
- New programs onboarded.
- Athletes activated on TORQ.
- Referral relationships generated.
- Consistency and quality of outreach and follow-up.
Why TORQ?
If you want to work in sports, sales, partnerships, recruiting, or entrepreneurship, this internship is an opportunity to gain experience by actually doing the work.
You’ll have the opportunity to build relationships within the sports industry, develop valuable business skills, contribute ideas, and directly impact TORQ’s growth.
We’re looking for people who are competitive, hungry to learn, and excited about helping build the future of athlete recruiting.
