Parent Empowerment and Food Security Program Fellow (AmeriCorps)

This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. To serve in AmeriCorps you must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States. Please do not inquire if you do not meet these requirements.

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers develops leaders through education and compassionate service that sparks confidence to learn and agency to transform disenfranchised communities. NDMV Volunteers provide direct in-person service at schools, community centers and non-profits. The Parent Empowerment and Food Security Program Fellow will support adult education and food security in Redwood City.

Responsibilities  include: 

• Provide small group and one-on-one instruction through GED tutoring, English language learning support, and job readiness support. 
• Assist and support the food distribution team to prep, plan, and execute food distribution services for pantry bags. 
• Conduct outreach and support to potential clients, volunteers, and community partners to expand access to food assistance services

· $2,857 monthly living allowance during service.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants be bilingual in Spanish and have an interest in working with adults in the community.
