AVL Tech Summer Staff
AVL Tech (Audio, Visual & Lighting — Live Production, Summer Camp)
Eagle Sky Camps · Housing + All Meals Included · $350/week · CPT/OPT Friendly
The Short Version
Every night this summer, a room full of students goes quiet, the lights come down, and something happens that they'll still be talking about ten years from now.
You're the one at the board making that moment possible.
As AVL Tech at Eagle Sky Christian Challenge Camp, you own the audio, video, and lighting behind every worship service, chapel, and camp-wide event. When it's done right, nobody notices the tech — they just notice they weren't distracted. That's the craft. You'll mix live bands, run lights and lyrics, troubleshoot on the fly, and get a full summer of reps that most people spend years waiting for.
This is a Christian ministry role. We serve campers in the name of Jesus, and every staff member is part of that mission.
What You'll Actually Do
- Set up and operate all AVL gear for worship services, events, and activities — soundboards, lighting consoles, projectors, and multimedia systems — and make sure everything is dialed in before doors open.
- Mix live worship night after night, adapting in real time when the schedule shifts, the band changes, or the speaker goes off-script.
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment proactively. Catching the bad cable at 3pm beats discovering it at 8pm.
- Collaborate with the worship team, speakers, and event coordinators to understand what they need and deliver it.
- Own safety and quality control — safe installation and operation, and a standard of sound, visuals, and lighting that raises the whole experience.
- Support guests with technical help so their event runs seamlessly.
- Stay flexible. Camp is a team sport. Some days you'll step in on tasks well outside the booth, technical or otherwise.
- Daily quiet time. Personal time each day to connect with the Lord and seek His guidance for your work.
Who Thrives in This Role
- You have a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate His Lordship and servant leadership in all areas of life.
- You've run live audio, video, or lighting before — church tech team, student ministry, campus events, theater booth, student band, campus radio/TV, or your own gear all count.
- You know your way around soundboards, lighting consoles, projectors, and multimedia systems, and you can troubleshoot under pressure without panicking.
- You communicate clearly and work well alongside staff, volunteers, and musicians.
- You're calm in a fast-paced live environment and adapt when the plan changes mid-event. It will.
- You're willing to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as the camp calendar requires.

Why This Looks Great After Camp
A summer of nightly live events is a serious credential. You'll walk away with hands-on experience in live sound engineering, front-of-house mixing, lighting design, video and projection, signal flow, and event production — plus the troubleshooting instincts that only come from things going wrong in front of an audience.
Strong fit for students in audio engineering, music production, communications, media and film production, technical theater, worship arts, broadcast, event management, and information technology — and for anyone who already lives in the tech booth and wants to get paid for it.
