Position Title: RIVA AmeriCorps Member
Organization: Immigrant Welcome Network of Johnson County (IWNJC)
Position Start: During Fall 2026 Semester on a rolling basis (September, October, November)

The Immigrant Welcome Network of Johnson County (IWNJC) is an immigrant-led nonprofit dedicated to preventing homelessness and advancing stability, dignity, and belonging for immigrant and non-immigrant families. We work at the intersection of housing, employment, advocacy, and community support.
Position Overview
The RIVA AmeriCorps member supports community-centered programs, advocacy efforts, and navigation services for individuals and families. This role is ideal for students interested in social justice, community organizing, public service, and direct support work within immigrant and refugee communities.
Responsibilities
Support community navigation efforts by helping connect individuals to housing, employment, and social services
Provide language support via translation/interpretation in Spanish or French for individuals and families with low English proficiency
Assist with outreach, community engagement, and advocacy activities
Help document community needs, barriers, and systemic challenges
Support program coordination, data tracking, and basic reporting
Contribute to projects that strengthen access, equity, and community empowerment
Qualifications
Proficiency in French or Spanish language communication (required)
Interest in social justice, community organizing, public policy, or human services
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work respectfully with diverse communities
Ability to be organized, reliable, and proactive
Position Details
On-site in Iowa City, IA
Expected 40 hours of service per week, with biweekly pay
Fixed year-long term of service through RIVA AmeriCorps
