Marketing & Recruitment Assistant — Work-Study 

School of Theatre, Dance, and Film 
Student Employment | Work-Study Required 
Typical Schedule: 10–15 hours per week | Maximum: 25 hours per week 

Position Summary 

The School of Theatre, Dance, and Film is seeking a dependable, organized, and creative undergraduate student to serve as a Marketing & Recruitment Assistant. This position provides support for the School’s marketing, communications, recruitment, outreach, and event activities, as well as general administrative operations. 

The Marketing & Recruitment Assistant will work closely with the School’s Marketing & Communications Manager and will gain hands-on experience in arts marketing, social media, communications, student recruitment, event support, and university operations. 

The position typically includes approximately 10–15 regularly scheduled hours per week, arranged around the student’s academic schedule. Additional hours may be available or required during busy periods, including recruitment activities, auditions, performances, and special events. Some evening and after-hours availability is required. 

Responsibilities 

Responsibilities may include: 

Assist with the development, scheduling, and organization of social media and digital marketing content. 

Assist with photography, video, and content collection for School productions, events, programs, and activities. 

Assist in the creation and updating of promotional materials, digital graphics, flyers, signage, and other marketing collateral. 

Assist with distributing, posting, and maintaining marketing and promotional materials throughout School facilities. 

Assist with prospective student visits, campus tours, recruitment events, auditions, callbacks, and other outreach activities. 

Prepare and organize materials for recruitment fairs, auditions, campus visits, and special events. 

Provide event support, including setup, check-in, guest assistance, content collection, signage, and breakdown. 

Perform basic data entry and general administrative tasks. 

Help maintain School promotional displays, signage, and informational materials. 

Assist with special marketing, communications, recruitment, event, and administrative projects as assigned. 

Required Qualifications 

Must be a currently enrolled student. 

Must be eligible for and maintain Work-Study eligibility for the duration of employment. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines. 

Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with prospective students, families, faculty, staff, students, alumni, patrons, and guests. 

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with faculty, staff, and student employees. 

Dependable and able to maintain a consistent weekly work schedule. 

Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and after-hours events as needed. 

Basic familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication. 

Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion when working with student, applicant, and departmental information. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, recruitment, event planning, theatre, dance, film, or the performing arts. 

Experience with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite. 

Experience creating content for Instagram or other social media platforms. 

Photography, video, or basic photo/video editing experience. 

Strong customer service or front-facing communication skills. 

Experience assisting with events, student organizations, campus activities, or similar programs. 

Familiarity with the School of Theatre, Dance, and Film and its programs, productions, or activities. 

Previous professional marketing experience is not required. Students who are organized, dependable, willing to learn, and interested in gaining practical professional experience are encouraged to apply. 

Schedule and Hours 

The position typically requires approximately 10–15 regularly scheduled hours per week during the academic semester. Regular office hours will be established at the beginning of each semester based on the student’s class schedule and departmental needs. 

Additional hours may be available or required for performances, recruitment activities, auditions, special events, and other School needs. Some evening and after-hours availability is required, with advance notice provided whenever possible. 

Student employees may work up to a maximum of 25 hours per week, inclusive of regularly scheduled office hours and event coverage. Actual weekly hours will vary based on departmental needs, the student’s availability, and Work-Study eligibility. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

This position involves work in both an office environment and throughout School and campus facilities. The student must be able to move between the Theatre Center, Performing Arts Center, and other campus locations as needed to complete assigned duties. 

The position may require moving and distributing marketing and recruitment materials, setting up and breaking down tables and displays, placing signage, transporting event materials, and assisting with other light physical event setup and breakdown tasks. 

Some duties may require extended periods of standing or walking during recruitment activities, performances, and special events.
