Early Career Teacher (KS1) – Barnet
Location: Barnet, London
Salary: £37,870 per annum – Outer London M1
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Start date: 8 September 2026
ConnECT is seeking a motivated Early Career Teacher (KS1) to join a supportive primary school in Barnet for the new academic year.
This role is ideal for an ECT who is passionate about helping younger pupils develop strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics and personal development. You will join a collaborative teaching team and receive the guidance needed to develop into a confident and effective classroom practitioner.
The role
As a KS1 Early Career Teacher, you will take responsibility for a class and deliver engaging lessons suited to pupils’ different learning levels. You will be encouraged to contribute your ideas while receiving support with planning, assessment, behaviour management and professional development.
Key responsibilities
• Plan and teach engaging lessons across the KS1 curriculum.
• Support pupils’ early reading, phonics, writing and numeracy.
• Assess progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
• Maintain a positive, organised and inclusive classroom.
• Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
• Build constructive relationships with parents and colleagues.
• Participate fully in the school’s ECT programme and CPD.
Requirements
• QTS achieved or expected before September 2026.
• A recognised teaching qualification.
• Recent KS1 experience through teacher training or school placements.
• Knowledge of phonics and the primary curriculum.
• Strong communication and classroom organisation skills.
• A positive and reflective approach to professional development.
