Freelance Graphic Designer

About Essence Extractors

Essence Extractors is an emerging creative strategy and brand experience studio focused on uncovering what makes a brand distinct and translating that essence into compelling visual identities, marketing, experiences, and storytelling.

We currently work primarily within luxury real estate, with plans to expand further into hospitality, boutique hotels, fragrance, lifestyle, and culturally driven brands.

Our approach is highly collaborative. Rather than maintaining a traditional fixed creative team, we bring together specialized creative talent based on the personality and needs of each project.

The Role

We’re looking to build an ongoing relationship with a freelance graphic designer who has a strong visual point of view, an appreciation for elevated design, and the versatility to move between different aesthetics.

Our clients should not all look the same.

While much of our current work is within luxury real estate, we are particularly interested in designers who can interpret luxury beyond the obvious—from understated and architectural to editorial, heritage, contemporary, experimental, or highly expressive.

You’ll work closely with the founder and creative director, who will establish the overarching concept, positioning, mood, and creative direction for each project. Your role will be to translate those ideas into a compelling visual world while bringing your own creative instincts and ideas to the table.

We’re not looking for someone who simply executes instructions. We want a creative collaborator who can take an idea and push it somewhere better.

What You Might Create

Depending on the project, work may include:

  • Print collateral, brochures, mailers, invitations, signage, and marketing materials
  • Social media graphics and digital content
  • Brand identities and visual systems
  • Presentation decks and client-facing materials
  • Advertising and campaign creative
  • Editorial-style layouts
  • Event collateral and experiential touchpoints
  • Real estate marketing materials, including development and property campaigns
  • Mood boards and early-stage visual concepts

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Have a strong foundation in graphic and communication design
  • Have a portfolio demonstrating range rather than one singular aesthetic
  • Understand typography, composition, hierarchy, imagery, and visual storytelling
  • Have an eye for sophisticated, elevated, or luxury-oriented design
  • Can design confidently across both print and digital
  • Are comfortable interpreting creative direction without needing every detail prescribed
  • Bring your own references, ideas, and creative perspective to projects
  • Are interested in architecture, real estate, hospitality, fashion, culture, interiors, or other visually driven industries
  • Can balance creativity with the practical needs of a client
  • Are reliable, communicative, and comfortable working on a project-by-project basis

Current Parsons students, recent graduates, and emerging designers are encouraged to apply. A strong portfolio and point of view matter more to us than years of experience.

The Opportunity

Essence Extractors is still young, which means this role offers the opportunity to grow alongside the studio.

This is not a full-time position. Projects will be offered on a freelance basis depending on client needs, scope, availability, and creative fit. As our client roster grows, there may be opportunities for increasingly consistent work and deeper creative collaboration.

Because we intentionally build teams around individual projects, we are also open to working with multiple designers with different creative strengths and aesthetics.

To Apply

Please send:

  • Your portfolio or website
  • Your availability
  • Your typical freelance/project rate or rate range
  • Any particular areas of design you’re most interested in

Bonus: Tell us about a brand, hotel, property, restaurant, publication, or creative project whose visual identity you love—and why.

We’re especially interested in meeting designers with a distinctive eye, curiosity, and the ability to turn an idea into a world.
