Overview:
EdgeBrook Farm is a New Jersey farm project providing interns with the opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of a real agricultural operation. EdgeBrook Farm is seeking motivated candidates for the Precision Agriculture Internship [NJ Farm Project] to support projects involving agricultural data, field monitoring, sensors, GPS/GIS technology, crop management, and data-driven farming practices.
This internship provides practical experience using technology and data to support agricultural decision-making. Participants will have opportunities to collect and analyze agricultural information, research precision farming technologies, evaluate field conditions, and contribute to projects focused on improving productivity, resource efficiency, and farm management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing agricultural and field data.
- Support projects involving GPS, GIS, sensors, monitoring systems, and other precision agriculture technologies.
- Help evaluate crop, soil, water, and environmental data to support farm decision-making.
- Research precision agriculture technologies and industry best practices.
- Assist with monitoring field conditions and identifying patterns or trends in agricultural data.
- Support the use of data to improve irrigation, resource use, crop management, and operational efficiency.
- Help evaluate digital tools and software used for precision farming and agricultural management.
- Assist with creating reports, summaries, maps, and visualizations based on agricultural data.
- Research emerging technologies involving automation, remote sensing, and data-driven agriculture.
- Collaborate with project leadership and other interns on precision agriculture initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Precision Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Technology, Agronomy, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field.
- Interest in agriculture, technology, data analysis, or precision farming.
- Strong analytical, research, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with data and learning new technologies.
- Familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets, GIS software, data visualization, or statistical tools is a plus.
- Experience with GPS, sensors, remote sensing, Python, R, or other data-analysis technologies is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
