Overview:
EdgeBrook Farm is a New Jersey farm project providing interns with the opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of a real agricultural operation. EdgeBrook Farm is seeking motivated candidates for the Biosystems Engineering Internship [NJ Farm Project] to support projects involving biological systems, soil and water resources, environmental management, sustainable agriculture, and engineering solutions for farm operations.
This internship provides practical experience applying engineering principles to biological and environmental systems within agriculture. Participants will have opportunities to evaluate farm systems, research sustainable technologies, analyze agricultural and environmental data, and contribute to solutions that improve the efficiency and sustainability of farming operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with evaluating biological and environmental systems related to farm operations.
- Support projects involving soil, water, crops, irrigation, drainage, and natural resource management.
- Help collect, organize, and analyze data related to agricultural and environmental conditions.
- Research biosystems engineering technologies and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Assist with evaluating water-use efficiency and resource-management systems.
- Support projects involving environmental sustainability and responsible use of agricultural resources.
- Help identify engineering solutions that improve interactions between agricultural operations and natural systems.
- Assist with technical documentation, research summaries, and project reports.
- Research emerging technologies related to biosystems engineering and sustainable agriculture.
- Collaborate with project leadership and other interns on biosystems engineering initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Biosystems Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in agriculture, biological systems, environmental sustainability, or natural resource management.
- Strong analytical, technical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of biological, environmental, or agricultural systems.
- Familiarity with data analysis, engineering design, GIS, environmental monitoring, or technical software is a plus.
- Knowledge of soil, water resources, irrigation, sustainability, or agricultural production systems is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
