Technical Publications Specialist
We’re supporting a well-established industrial manufacturing company with a search for a Technical Publications Specialist to create technical documentation, instructional videos, and AI-assisted work instructions. This role combines technical writing, manufacturing training, video production, and digital content management to document equipment operation, assembly, repair, and service procedures.
This is a full-time, permanent, on-site opportunity in Kenner, Louisiana. The position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Support, and Training to produce accurate, accessible resources for employees, field service technicians, and customers.
What You’ll Do
- Record and edit video of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, assembly, repairs, and service procedures.
- Use AI-powered software to develop SOPs, work instructions, training guides, and technical documentation.
- Review and edit AI-generated content for technical accuracy, grammar, clarity, and consistency.
- Create instructional videos and digital training materials for factory employees, field service technicians, and customers.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, process documentation, and other technical publications.
- Collaborate with Engineering and other subject-matter experts to verify content before publication.
- Organize video files, digital assets, and documentation while maintaining revision control and accessibility.
- Support employee onboarding, process consistency, safety, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Supplement installation, operation, maintenance, and service manuals with digital media.
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation and training processes using AI and other digital technologies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Technical Communication, Multimedia, Information Technology, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in technical documentation, training, digital media, manufacturing support, or a related area.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- Strong computer and technical aptitude with the ability to learn new software and AI applications.
- Experience with video recording and editing, or the ability and interest to learn.
- Familiarity with document management, digital asset management, or revision-control practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, manufacturing employees, and other subject-matter experts.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Willingness to work in manufacturing and testing areas while following required safety and PPE procedures.
