Graduate Instructional Assistant for Nursing
Graduate Instructional Assistant (GIA) – BSN Program
The Graduate Instructional Assistant will work under the supervision of the BSN Program Coordinator to support the preparation, organization, and delivery of undergraduate nursing courses.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with preparation and organization of course materials and instructional resources.
- Support course setup and maintenance in the learning management system.
- Assist with preparation and setup of classrooms, labs, simulation, and other course activities.
- Provide general administrative and course support to the BSN Program Coordinator.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Meet Texas State University eligibility requirements for a Graduate Instructional Assistant (GIA).
- Good academic standing (no probation/suspension)
- Regular admission (no conditional, non-degree, or graduating senior status)
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Enrollment: 9-12 hrs Fall/Spring, 3-6 Summer
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with common computer applications and ability to learn university systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and academic information.
- Must complete 3 semester hours of professional development coursework in teaching (cost covered by institution).
Preferred:
- Experience with learning management systems or educational technology.
- Experience providing academic or administrative support in a higher education setting.
Note: A nursing degree and/or a RN license is not required for this position.
