Programs Internship
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- College student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
- Ideal focuses: Education, Early Childhood Education and/or Development, Social Work, Communication, Public Relations, Business Administration or Psychology and Sociology
- A desire to learn more about the animal shelter environment
- Comfortable interacting with children ages 4 – 17
- A highly developed attention to detail
- Well-developed interpersonal and writing skills
- Excellent and professional customer service and communication skills
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills
- The ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Flexibility in hours; working some nights and possible weekends
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer & Foster Program Support (Approximately 40%)
- Assist with volunteer and foster onboarding processes.
- Complete volunteer background checks and maintain confidential records.
- Enter and update information in shelter databases.
- Assemble foster supply kits and organize inventory.
- Assist staff with foster appointments and animal pick-ups/returns.
- Prepare paperwork and educational materials for fosters.
- Support communication with volunteers and foster caregivers.
Humane Education Support (Approximately 30%)
- Assist with data entry and program tracking.
- Help prepare materials for youth education programs and camps.
- Assist staff during children's programs, camps, school visits, and community events.
- Help set up and clean up educational activities.
- Support participant check-in and attendance tracking.
- Assist with program evaluations and feedback collection.
Community Outreach Support (Approximately 30%)
- Assist with community outreach data entry and record keeping.
- Help organize and distribute pet food donations.
- Participate in community pet food deliveries and donation drop-offs.
- Assist staff during low-cost vaccine clinics, including registration, paperwork, client flow, and supply preparation.
- Help prepare outreach materials and event supplies.
- Support additional community events and outreach initiatives as needed.

Physical Demands
- Work requires lifting and carrying items & animals that weigh up to 40 pounds. Will be assisted by other staff members with items & animals weighing over 40 pounds
- Will be required to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Will frequently work in a bent position
