Marketing Coordinator Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION
YouthServe empowers youth across Birmingham to lead through service and civic engagement. The Marketing Coordinator supports YouthServe's marketing and communications efforts, ensuring the stories of our youth leaders reach and resonate across the Birmingham region. This is a part-time role blending strategic storytelling, event promotion, and donor communications to advance YouthServe’s visibility and mission. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Content & Storytelling
- Produce and distribute monthly newsletters and social media content showcasing youth-led community change
- Manage YouthServe's brand voice and messaging consistency across all platforms
- Translate programmatic outcomes into compelling stories for donors, partners, and the public
- Coordinate quarterly website updates to keep program information and stories current
Events & Campaigns
- Lead marketing promotion for the Youth In Service Awards
- Support the Development Coordinator with outreach for fundraising campaigns
Reporting & Assets
- Maintain an organized digital library of program photos, videos, and marketing assets
- Provide input on marketing performance for periodic Board reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, or nonprofit management
- 2–3 years of marketing or communications experience, nonprofit setting preferred
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone across audiences from corporate sponsors to teen program participants
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) and website content management systems
- Experience managing professional social media accounts and tracking engagement metrics
- Comfortable working occasional evenings/weekends for events
Compensation and Benefits
- Part-time, hourly position (rate based on experience)
