Outreach Program Aide

The Las Vegas Area Council is dedicated to preparing young people for life through the values and programs of Scouting. We serve the youth of Southern Nevada, fostering leadership, character development, and community engagement through quality Scouting experiences. 

Job Overview 

The Las Vegas Area Council is seeking reliable and motivated Outreach Program Aide staff to deliver Scouting programs at designated Scoutreach program sites. Program Aides play a key role in ensuring youth receive a consistent, engaging, and developmentally appropriate Scouting experience. This position involves working with youth in grades K–12. The role is ideal for individuals interested in youth development, education, or community-based programming. 

Key Responsibilities 

Program Delivery: Deliver Scouting programming as designed by the Outreach District Executive and in accordance with Scouting America guidelines. 

Youth Engagement: Facilitate age-appropriate activities that promote skill development, advancement, and positive character-building. 

Program Administration: Maintain accurate attendance records and submit site reports following each program session, documenting participation and program outcomes. 

Behavior and Safety Management: Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment that supports positive youth behavior and engagement. 

Recruitment and Outreach: Support efforts to increase participation through community awareness activities and engagement with families. 

Team Collaboration: Participate in staff meetings or check-ins and maintain communication with supervisors regarding site needs and program progress. 

Qualifications 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required 

Experience: Prior experience working with youth, in education, recreation, or community programs is preferred but not required 

Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

Ability to engage and manage groups of youth effectively 

Strong organizational and time management skills 

Ability to follow structured program plans 

Spanish or other language a plus, but not required 

Attributes

Dependable, professional, and punctual 

Positive attitude and commitment to youth development 

Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

Requirements

Ability to work flexible hours as needed 

Must be 21 years of age or older 

Register as a member of Scouting America 

Complete Safeguarding Youth Training 

Successfully pass a background check 

Maintain compliance with all Scouting America policies and procedures 

Wear the official Scoutreach uniform while performing duties 

Ability to travel and possess reliable transportation to assigned locations and Scout Resource Center 

This role involves a level of physicality, and requires the following abilities: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, driving motor vehicle. Occasional heavy lifting boxes, files and equipment (up to 30lbs).  

Availability/Schedule: Flexible schedule, with some evenings and weekends required for events. Approximately 10-15 hours per week. 

Location: Various assigned Scoutreach program sites in the Las Vegas area.
