Speech-Language Pathologist

Montague Area Public Schools is seeking a Temporary Speech-Language Pathologist from October to February to assist in covering the district’s needs. The Speech-Language Pathologist performs evaluations of students’ communication skills and deficits and develops individualized therapeutic programs for implementation by the Therapist and/or instructional staff.


Education / Qualification Requirements:
• Master’s degree from accredited college or university in Speech Pathology or a related field
• Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Michigan SLP license
• Valid Michigan certification with appropriate endorsement(s) preferred
• Previous successful experience working with children at the appropriate grade level preferred


Responsibilities:
• Provide speech and language services to Preschool, Elementary, Intermediate, Middle School, and High School students
• Evaluation and interpretation of communication needs of students with disabilities
• Facilitate and attend IEP meetings
• Supports the family in connecting to other services in the community that they may need and assists in the referral to those agencies/services
• Maintains positive and open communication with parents, staff, and administration
• Provide augmentative and/or assistive technology services and consultation
• Facilitate and attend regular meetings with staff and parents
• Work on both special education and general education teams (may include building-level MTSS team)
• Develops individualized developmental and remedial programs for students
• Implements directly and trains other staff to implement and monitor communication remedial programs.
• Provides resources and consultation services to staff, other professionals, parents, guardians and caregivers regarding remedial techniques for communications deficits
• At the direction of school administrators, attends and participates in IEPC and MET meetings and the formulation of student educational plans
• Compiles and maintains service and progress records, written reports, Medicaid Billing and other documentation
• Practice confidentiality and discretion on job related subjects and especially in regard to student records
• In order to improve and maintain professional competence they participate in professional educational opportunities
• Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
