Marketing & Content Intern
Marketing & Content Intern
Lucky Dog Sewer & Drain LLC
Location: Remote / Twin Cities, MN (occasional on-site work at jobsites or company events may be requested)
Hours: Approximately 5–10 hours per week
Position Type: Part-Time Internship
About the Role
Lucky Dog Sewer & Drain is a growing veteran-owned sewer, drain, and plumbing company serving the Twin Cities. We are looking for a highly motivated Marketing & Content Intern who wants hands-on experience helping build a brand from the ground up.
This is a role for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset. We are not looking for someone who needs a detailed assignment list every week. We want someone who sees opportunities, brings ideas forward, creates content, tests what works, and takes ownership of growing Lucky Dog's presence online.
The primary goals of this role are straightforward: increase followers, views, brand recognition, engagement, and ultimately help generate leads and sales.
You do not need years of professional marketing experience. You do need strong initiative, creativity, good judgment, and a current understanding of how social media and digital content work.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day management of Lucky Dog's social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Consistently create, edit, schedule, and publish social media content
- Develop ideas for short-form videos, Reels, TikToks, posts, stories, educational content, and behind-the-scenes content
- Stay current on social media trends, formats, creators, memes, hooks, and content styles
- Identify trends that can be creatively adapted to the Lucky Dog brand
- Help capture photos and video of technicians, jobs, equipment, company activities, and other opportunities for content
- Occasionally visit Twin Cities jobsites or company events to capture original photo and video content
- Turn raw jobsite footage and everyday company activity into interesting, engaging content
- Edit short-form video and photo content for social media
- Write captions, hooks, calls to action, and other marketing copy
- Help establish a recognizable and consistent Lucky Dog brand voice
- Develop and test ideas to increase followers, views, shares, engagement, and local brand awareness
- Help turn social media attention into website traffic, inquiries, leads, and booked jobs
- Monitor basic performance metrics and use results to improve future content
- Help create or upload blog posts and other website content as needed
- Repurpose existing photos, videos, blogs, customer questions, and jobsite information into new content
- Brainstorm partnerships, promotions, referral campaigns, community marketing, and other creative ways to generate awareness and sales
- Proactively bring new marketing and content ideas to the owner rather than waiting to be assigned every task
Specific Skills We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reels, and short-form video
- Awareness of current social media and content trends
- Ability to recognize what makes content interesting, shareable, or attention-grabbing
- Basic short-form video editing
- Basic photo editing and graphic design
- Strong writing skills for captions, hooks, headlines, and calls to action
- Ability to create content with a smartphone without requiring professional production equipment
- Basic understanding of social media analytics and willingness to use performance data to improve results
- Strong organization and ability to work independently
Minimum Requirements
- Available approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Located in or reasonably near the Twin Cities and able to occasionally travel to jobsites or company events when content opportunities arise
- Comfortable working primarily remotely and managing responsibilities independently
- Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Basic ability to create and edit social media content
- Strong written communication skills
- Reliable and able to consistently complete agreed-upon responsibilities
- Comfortable taking initiative without waiting for detailed instructions
- Willingness to learn about sewer, drain, plumbing, home services, and the customers Lucky Dog serves
- Current college students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply, but a specific major is not required.
Professional marketing experience is not required. Personal social media projects, school projects, freelance work, photography, video editing, or examples of content you've created are all relevant.
The Person We're Looking For. We want someone who is:
Entrepreneurial. You are interested in building something, not simply completing assignments.
High initiative. If you see an opportunity for a video, campaign, partnership, trend, or new idea, you bring it forward and act on it.
Creative. You can take a routine subject like sewer and drain work and figure out how to make people stop scrolling.
Current. You understand how social media works today.
Results-oriented. You care whether the content actually gets viewed, shared, followed, clicked, and ultimately helps generate customers.
Comfortable experimenting. Not every piece of content will work. We want someone willing to test ideas, look at the results, and keep improving.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this position will be measured by more than simply posting a certain number of times each week.
We want to see measurable progress in:
- Followers and audience growth
- Video views and reach
- Engagement and shares
- Local brand recognition
- Content quality and consistency
- Website traffic from social channels
- Customer inquiries and leads
- New marketing ideas and initiatives
Why This Internship Is Different
You will not be one person buried inside a large marketing department.
You'll work directly with the founder and have an opportunity to meaningfully influence how Lucky Dog builds its brand. You'll have latitude to test ideas, create new campaigns, and see firsthand which marketing efforts actually generate attention, leads, and sales.
Most of the work can be completed remotely and on a flexible schedule. However, because some of the best content will come from the actual work Lucky Dog performs, occasional on-site time at Twin Cities job sites or company activities may be required to capture photos and video.
For someone interested in marketing, content creation, entrepreneurship, social media, or eventually building a business or brand of their own, this role offers direct exposure to what it takes to grow a company from an early stage.
