ENLA Learning (Education Nation Learning Academy) is hiring an Infant Teacher for our Infant classroom, children 6 weeks to 12 months old, at our Montessori-inspired early education center in Fishtown, Philadelphia. You hold a ratio of 1 educator to 3 infants, tighter than the PA DHS state floor of 1 to 4. If you studied early childhood because you wanted time to be with children, this room was built for you.

 

The role

Infant care here is teaching. We are educators, not babysitters. The first year is attachment, babble, and the climb from rolling to sitting to crawling, and the day is built around it: responsive care, constant narration, unhurried routines, calm and predictable handling. When a child needs a diaper change or bathroom run elsewhere in the building, a Classroom Aide steps into the room; you never leave your infants. You partner closely with the Group Supervisor who oversees the infant and younger toddler rooms; mentorship starts week one.

 

What you will do

  • Care for three infants with steady routines for feeding, sleep, and play
  • Narrate the day out loud; language begins months before first words
  • Support each child's motor progression from rolling to sitting to crawling
  • Communicate with families every day about feeds, sleep, and milestones
  • Follow PA DHS licensing standards in full, including safe sleep practice at every nap
  • Keep the room prepared and emotionally safe, with steady, predictable routines

What you will need

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (a PA DHS-equivalent credit path also qualifies)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of classroom experience with young children
  • A steady, warm presence. Calm is leadership.
  • Availability for full-time, in-person work in Fishtown

Clearances (we track renewals and help you get current)

All must be current before you work with children. Missing one? Apply anyway; we help new staff get current.

  • FBI fingerprint clearance (IdentoGO)
  • PA State Police criminal background check (PATCH)
  • PA Child Abuse History clearance
  • National Sex Offender Registry check
  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid
  • Mandated Reporter training certificate
  • Physical exam and TB test within the last 2 years

Pay and schedule

$23 to $25 per hour, set by education and experience on the ENLA Learning salary scale. Full time, in person, Monday to Friday; shifts fall inside our 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. operating hours.
