Immigration Case Manager

About the Role

The Immigration Law Office Case Manager Intern will support our team in managing client cases from intake through resolution, ensuring timely communication, accurate documentation, and compliance with immigration procedures. This intern will serve as a key point of contact for clients and will work closely with attorneys and legal staff to facilitate efficient, organized case management.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student or early-career professional interested in immigration law, social work, or nonprofit legal services to gain hands-on experience supporting real client cases in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intake interviews and gather relevant personal, legal, and immigration information
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing case updates and responding to questions throughout the legal process
  • Collect, organize, review, and maintain client records and supporting documentation
  • Prepare immigration forms, applications, affidavits, declarations, and supporting evidence for attorney review
  • Monitor filing deadlines, court dates, biometrics appointments, interviews, and other critical case milestones
  • Coordinate with government agencies, interpreters, translators, medical providers, and other third parties as necessary
  • Draft correspondence to clients, government agencies, and opposing parties under attorney supervision
  • Assist attorneys in preparing cases for interviews, hearings, and appeals
  • Maintain accurate case notes and update the firm's case management system
  • Ensure confidential handling of client information in accordance with ethical and legal requirements
  • Educate clients on required documentation, procedural steps, and case expectations without providing independent legal advice
  • Track case progress and proactively identify missing documents or upcoming deadlines
  • Assist with billing, client scheduling, and administrative tasks as needed
  • Follow directions and procedures as given by supervising attorneys and staff

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bilingual, Spanish speaking (required)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when handling legal documents
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of U.S. immigration processes and forms preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, or Webex; legal case management software experience a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff
  • Professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity when working with clients from diverse backgrounds

Availability

Candidates must be available a minimum of 5–10 hours per week.
