Senior Manager of Student Engagement

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Manager of Student Engagement leads tnAchieves' student-facing communication strategy, ensuring students receive timely, accurate and motivating messages as they work toward key TN Promise and College Completion milestones. This person tracks student progress and outcomes data, translates that data into clear reporting, and uses those insights to shape communication that reaches students, families and mentors at the right moment with the right message.

This is a writing-intensive, detail-driven role for someone who can manage a comprehensive communication strategy across multiple channels and audiences without letting deadlines or details slip. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor, comfortable building and analyzing reporting, and confident shifting priorities as program needs change throughout the year. This person will work closely with the communications team to align student-facing communication with tnAchieves' broader external communication strategy, and should be comfortable working in Salesforce CRM to manage and track student data.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Communication Strategy

• Maintain a comprehensive student-facing communication strategy that keeps students, families and mentors informed and engaged at every stage of the TN Promise and college journey

• Write, edit and proofread student communications across email, text and mail, ensuring every message is clear, accurate and consistent with tnAchieves' voice and brand standards

• Build and maintain a communications calendar aligned to TN Promise deadlines, program milestones and college completion touchpoints

• Adapt messaging, timing and priorities in response to shifting program needs, policy changes or emerging student trends, ensuring communication stays relevant and timely

Student Outcomes Tracking & Reporting

• Track student outcomes and progress toward key TN Promise and College Completion milestones, maintaining accurate and current records in Salesforce CRM

• Create, update and analyze reporting that translates student data into clear, actionable insights that inform and strengthen communication strategy

• Identify students falling behind on key milestones and coordinate targeted communication and outreach to help get them back on track

• Provide senior leadership with regular updates on communication performance, milestone completion trends and areas of student risk

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Work closely with the Senior Manager of Community Engagement to align student-facing communication with tnAchieves' broader external communication strategy

• Partner with the Chief Content Officer and program teams to ensure messaging is consistent, accurate and reflects current program requirements

• Coordinate with mentors, coaches and college partners as needed to ensure communication reaches students through the right channels

Organizational Support

• Approach all responsibilities with flexibility, accountability and a willingness to support the broader tnAchieves team

• Assist with TN Promise meetings and other major organizational initiatives as needed

• Respond to routine student communications during periods of increased organizational need

• Attends individual and team meetings as scheduled by direct supervisor and leadership

 

SPECIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree required

• Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and persuasively to a range of audiences

• Ability to create, update and analyze reporting to inform and improve communication strategy

• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy across all student-facing materials

• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, channels and stakeholders simultaneously

• Willingness to adapt and shift priorities based on current program needs

• Comfort with Salesforce CRM, or willingness to quickly develop proficiency

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Suite

• Solutions-oriented, proactive and quick to take initiative

• Sound judgment and the ability to work independently while keeping appropriate team members informed

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across departments

• Commitment to the tnAchieves mission and a belief in the potential of every student

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Student communications are accurate, on-brand and delivered on schedule

• Students remain informed and on track to meet key TN Promise and College Completion milestones

• Communication reporting is current, accurate and used to inform strategy adjustments

• Communication performance and milestone trends are reported to leadership on a regular cadence

• Salesforce student records remain accurate and current

• Practice prompt and accurate internal and external correspondence

Compensation will be considered based on experience starting at $50,000.
