SALES INTERN – CUSTOMER OUTREACH

Koehler Instrument Company manufactures laboratory testing instruments for petroleum, petrochemical and industrial laboratories worldwide. This internship provides hands-on experience in customer outreach, sales follow-up and CRM.

Position Summary

The Sales Intern will support the North America sales team by calling customers and prospects from prepared lists, following up on leads, scheduling meetings or demonstrations and entering notes in CRM. This is a supervised learning role; complex technical questions, recommendations and major sales will remain with experienced staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Call current customers and potential customers using contact lists and talking points provided by the sales team.
  • Follow up on website inquiries, open quotations, webinar or conference leads and inactive customer accounts.
  • Ask simple questions to understand the customer's interest, timing and the correct person responsible for laboratory equipment purchases.
  • Schedule meetings or product demonstrations and send approved product information or follow-up emails.
  • Enter calls, emails, customer notes, next steps and follow-up dates into Zoho CRM while keeping contact information current.
  • Immediately pass technical questions, quotation requests and serious sales opportunities to the appropriate employee.
  • Help prepare a simple weekly summary of calls, conversations, meetings scheduled and leads referred to Sales.

Performance Measurables

  • Customer calls and follow-up emails completed.
  • Meaningful customer conversations and correct decision-makers identified.
  • Meetings scheduled and qualified leads or customer needs passed to Sales.
  • Complete and accurate CRM notes with a clear next step and follow-up date.

Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate in Business, Marketing, Communications, Chemistry, Engineering or a related field.
  • Comfortable speaking with customers by phone and willing to make outbound calls.
  • Professional, friendly and clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, dependable and able to follow instructions and complete follow-up tasks.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills; CRM experience is helpful but not required. No prior petroleum-testing experience is required and training will be provided.
