Graduate Assistant – TEX-SIM Project
Position Type: Part-Time (Approximately 10 hours per week)
Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant will provide administrative, coordination, and project support for the TEX-SIM (Texas Spatial‑Temporal Data Science, Informatics and Modeling Core Facility) Project, a CPRIT funded core facility that that aims to support population-level cancer research in Texas. This position is ideal for a Houston-located graduate student who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and interested in supporting multidisciplinary research and technology initiatives. The Graduate Assistant will assist with project logistics, communications, meeting coordination, background research, and event planning to help ensure efficient project operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate communications with project team members, stakeholders, collaborators, and users.
- Draft, send, and track project-related emails and follow-up communications.
- Schedule meetings and assist with calendar coordination.
- Attend project meetings and prepare accurate meeting agendas, notes, and action items.
- Conduct background research and literature reviews on topics relevant to project activities.
- Assist with organizing project documents, reports, and shared resources.
- Support the planning and logistics of workshops, seminars, demonstrations, meetings, and other project-related events.
- Help monitor project timelines and follow up on assigned tasks.
- Perform other administrative and project support duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Microsoft Teams for communication, meeting coordination, and file collaboration, as well as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to conduct literature and internet-based background research.
- Attention to detail and professionalism when interacting with project collaborators.
Desired Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.
- Experience with project coordination or event planning is a plus.
- Interest in digital health, healthcare technology, or research projects is desirable but not required.
Time Commitment
- Approximately 10 hours per week.
- Flexible schedule coordinated with the project supervisor.
- Hybrid or on-site work as required by project activities.
