Spanish Teacher, Grades 4–8

St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s School seeks an experienced and qualified Spanish Teacher for Grades 4–8, beginning September 1, 2026.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, thoughtful, and collegial educator who brings native or near-native fluency in Spanish and experience teaching Spanish to elementary and/or middle school students.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in education, preferably including a Master’s degree, and at least three years of teaching experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to establish positive and effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

We seek a teacher who is committed to nurturing students’ individual passions and talents and to developing the skills, attitudes, and knowledge they need to build, assess, and integrate learning across disciplines. The candidate should also be committed to supporting student success and well-being beyond the classroom.

In particular, the successful candidate will:

  • Teach Spanish to students in Grades 4–8.
  • Create an engaging, age-appropriate, and developmentally responsive Spanish curriculum.
  • Foster students’ enthusiasm for language learning and appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures.
  • Build strong and positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Support the social, emotional, cultural, and academic development of middle school students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and contribute to an integrated curriculum.
  • Participate fully in the life of the school community and contribute to students’ overall growth and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in education preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least three years of teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
