CLIA Lab Operations Intern
Job Description:
Compensation: Negotiable internship compensation based on qualifications, experience, and time commitment.
Complete Omics Inc. is a venture-backed, commercial-stage biotechnology company located in the Baltimore, Maryland area. We develop and commercialize advanced omics-based platforms and solutions for precision medicine, health monitoring, and disease diagnostics.
Complete Omics has two immediate openings for CLIA Laboratory Operations & Bioinformatics Interns. These positions offer students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a highly translational biotechnology and clinical laboratory environment.
Complete Omics provides a particularly distinctive training environment. While many academic and biotechnology laboratories conduct proteomics or multi-omics research, relatively few combine advanced mass spectrometry-based proteomics and multi-omics technologies with CLIA-regulated clinical laboratory operations.
At Complete Omics, interns will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of clinical laboratory medicine, mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics, bioinformatics, laboratory informatics, and patient data systems. This provides rare exposure to how advanced omics technologies are translated from research and assay development into regulated clinical workflows supporting patient testing and precision medicine.
Interns may gain hands-on experience across the complete translational pathway:
Patient sample → CLIA laboratory workflow → proteomics/multi-omics analysis → bioinformatics → quality control → clinical data interpretation → patient-level reporting
This combination of CLIA laboratory operations and advanced proteomics/multi-omics technologies makes the internship particularly valuable for students interested in clinical diagnostics, biotechnology, precision medicine, computational biology, bioinformatics, or careers at the interface of laboratory science and healthcare technology.
What Interns Can Learn
This internship provides exposure to the complete translational process, from patient sample handling and clinical laboratory testing through mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, quality control, data interpretation, and patient-level reporting.
Interns may gain experience in:
- CLIA laboratory operations
- Clinical assay development and validation
- Precision medicine and molecular diagnostics
- Clinical proteomics and metabolomics
- Mass spectrometry-based multi-omics
- Laboratory automation and workflow optimization
- Bioinformatics pipeline development
- Patient data management and analysis
- Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) development
- Clinical data quality control
- Scientific software and informatics development
- Translational research and biotechnology commercialization
High-performing interns may have opportunities to take on increasingly independent projects and contribute to scientific publications, assay and technology development, bioinformatics systems, and future clinical products.
