Physical Therapy Technician

FUNCTION: To assist the physical therapist in the treatment of patients referred to the clinic in the most effective and efficient manner possible. The PT Technician is specifically trained under the direction of the PT/PTA, and functions only under the continuous on-site supervision of the therapist. The Technician performs designated routine tasks related to the operation of the Therapist service delegated by the therapist(s). Involvement in patient care shall be at the judgment and discretion of the supervising PT. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Clinical Setting: Assists and supports the therapists in efficiently and effectively providing treatment to patients following an established plan of care developed by the PT. Skillfully provides treatment to patients in accordance with the established Plan of Care under the judgment and discretion of the therapists. Promptly completes exercise flow sheets according to the established format in the clinic. Follows the procedures for mailing documentation. Completes daily clinic maintenance tasks. Follows opening/closing check list procedures.
2. Team Participation: Participates in clinical staff education, meetings, and quality improvement programs for patient care and staff development projects.
3. Office Duties: Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of all patient care supplies and organizing stock. Responsible for general cleaning and tidiness of the clinic and performing laundry tasks when necessary.
